In the words of Gonzo… January 12, 2008

Security…what does this word mean in relation to life as we know it today? For the most part, it means safety and freedom from worry. It is said to be the end that all men strive for; but is security a utopian goal or is it another word for rut?
Let us visualize the secure man; and by this term, I mean a man who has settled for financial and personal security for his goal in life. In general, he is a man who has pushed ambition and initiative aside and settled down, so to speak, in a boring, but safe and comfortable rut for the rest of his life. His future is but an extension of his present, and he accepts it as such with a complacent shrug of his shoulders. His ideas and ideals are those of society in general and he is accepted as a respectable, but average and prosaic man. (more…)

I’m not really sure how to react to the current riot happening in Kenya. Whether to call it a primitive, tribalistic and inhumane way to settle scores or an outburst of a civilized society whose ethnic tension has been suppressed for years. I am ashamed to label it as the former. With the echoes of the Rwanda slaughter still ringing in our ears another ethnic clash like this one just shows how far we have come from that genocide. Its utterly disgusting and the fact that it happened in Kenya, the poster child of stability in Africa makes it even more repugnant. Whomever deleted civil disobedience and boycotting from the dictionary of these people should be flogged in public. I wonder how many lives have to be lost to this idiotic ways of resolving conflicts before Africa comes to its senses and realize it is not working. Out of all this, the most disappointing part is the role of the so called political leaders who are enjoying this fiasco from the comfort of their mansions. They should be upheld responsible and punished for not making the slightest effort to quell this genocide. Its very sad that these people are so hopeless that they have pinned all their hopes on these politicians that they would kill their neighbor to put them on the throne. Honestly, I don’t think they are any different than the corrupt, selfish and incompetent statesmen that have plagued the history of Africa.

…Just something to put my thoughts and ideas I might have. Not sure about the directions I want to set for it as I don’t want to inhibit a free thinking mind….
