Jimmy “The Backstabber” Carter April 23, 2008

Whover let this cranky old man out of the gates of his nursing home to wander around the globe and conduct diplomacy should be reprimanded severely. Jimmy’s latest attempt to cut a peace deal between Hamas and Israel could be considered a laudable act but let’s not forget that all of Jimmy deals are nothing less of snake oil deals where one country has to pay the price dearly for it. I wonder who is the sacrificial lamb for this one?
Not too long ago in 1978, When Jimmy was the then residing president of the U.S he was praised all over the world for brokering a peace treaty between Israel and Egypt. But little did the world know about the country that was throwin under the bus to entice the Egyptians into the treaty table. (more…)
“Peace with Honor” April 19, 2008

In 1973, Richard Nixon made a speech promising to end the Vietnam war and bring peace but “Peace with Honor”. He never achieved his peace let alone the honor but he caused thousands of lives to perish while pursuing this goal. The peace came two years later during the Ford administration but not the honor.
Fast forward 35 years and a similar war mongering government is stuck in the same conundrum and they are desperately clambering to achieve their goal of “Peace with Honor” but there is no gleaming light at the end of this labyrinth beaconing success. What is this “Peace with Honor” they chant about that both administration failed so miserably to achieve? What is the peace? What is the Honor ? To answer this question, one needs to look at the history of American foreign policy for the past fifty something years. In the heart of American foreign policy towards any nations lies the fundamental principle of coercing other nations militarily or economically to capitulate to American interests. Henry Kissinger, the infamous war criminal who served under the Nixon administration and who sometimes has a problem of bellowing U.S government sentiments towards other countries once clamored that “America does not have friends. We only have interests”. To secure those interests, He was not one iota reluctant in unleashing the military he once described as: “Military men are just dumb stupid animals to be used as pawns in foreign policy.”

Oil Drama April 9, 2008

The theater on C-SPAN begins with congressmen/representatives sitting on the lofty perch, concealing their indifference with a well rehearsed fury and the oil execs sitting below them like school kids who have been summoned to the principal’s office for some scolding. The theme of the play is simple. To create a notion that these lawmakers are genuinely concerned about the effects of the soaring gas price on the public or the not so rich people. It is also to conjure the perception in people’s mind that lawmakers are actively taking measures to address the rising gas prices and defuse the public outcry. A play directed by these elected officials/actors/clowns where they publicly deride the oil execs for making an obscene profit and basking in scads of money as bonus when millions of people are struggling at the pump. A drama where the oil execs were also severely chastised for donating only 1% of this profit towards research for renewable energy and sternly castigated for doing next to nothing in reducing greenhouse gas emission. What a travesty! (more…)
