According to the CIA world factbook, Ethiopia has a GDP of 55 Billion (2007) which ranks her 86th among the 229 “countries” considered “countries” by the CIA but the GDP per Capita is 700 bucks which ranks her 9th from the bottom. On the up side, the GDP growth rate is at a whooping 9.8% placing Ethiopia 14th, slightly below China. On the down side the population growth rate is at a dismal 2.3% which is adversely affecting this GDP per Capita. Even in India, where women pop babies like popcorn, it is still at 1.5%.
A quick fix to this GDP per capita is a mass influx of free condoms and birth control pills into the public domain and a halt on sex education pamphlets that are being confused for a Kama Sutra booklet.
